Dear Kenshis, 

The UChicago Kendo Club would like to invite you to the 2026 UChicago Phoenix Kendo Tournament, which will take place on April 19th, 2026, at the Auxiliary Gym of Gerald Ratner Athletics Center at 5530 S Ellis Ave, Chicago, IL. 

The one-day tournament features a double-elimination individual competition and a round-robin team competition. Time-permitting, there will also be godogeiko after the tournament, where participants will have the opportunity to keiko with kendoka and high-ranking senseis across the Midwest. 

We are honored to have Kotaro Yoshida-sensei (Kyoshi 7th dan) as our shinpancho. 

REGISTRATION

To participate, please register using the following registration form. The registration deadline is March 29th, 2026, at 11:59 pm CT.  

PAYMENT

No registration fee will be charged. 

You may choose to donate (recommended!) at registration or on-site. You will receive a UChicago Kendo Club Tenugui if your donation exceeds $20. All donations will be used for purchasing Shinais for Kendo beginners in the coming academic year. :) 

PARTICIPATION ELIGIBILITY

All participants must be above 18 years old. If you do not have enough members to form a full team (3-persons), you may request to be placed on a mixed team by registering for the team competition as well. We will do our best to accommodate everyone!
